Advancing the ASSCR through digital connection
Client: Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research (ASSCR)
Services: Website Redevelopment, UX Design, WordPress Development, Membership Integration, Sustainable Hosting
Website: asscr.org
We worked with the team at the Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research to rebuild their digital presence into a platform that reflects the society’s role as a network for leading researchers, clinicians, and industry partners. The goal was to modernise the user experience and make scientific communication simple, intuitive, and engaging for every member of the community.
The new site offers organised access to resources, events, news, and membership benefits, bringing clarity and ease to a previously complex structure.

Design that supports engagement and credibility
The updated design emphasizes professionalism and readability, using a clean visual language anchored in science and collaboration. Pages are structured with clear navigation pathways for members, students, and partners, making it simple to find events, news, and opportunities in the field.
A content system was developed that allows ASSCR staff to easily manage updates, highlight monthly member spotlights, and share new research insights without requiring technical support.
Building sustainable digital infrastructure
The rebuild follows Climate Logic’s sustainable web design principles. The WordPress environment was optimised for efficient hosting and low energy consumption, while maintaining speed and security. Flexible content modules allow for ongoing expansion as ASSCR adds new initiatives, partnerships, and scientific resources in the future.

The result
The new ASSCR website provides an improved digital experience for Australia and New Zealand’s growing stem cell research community. It supports member engagement, fosters collaboration, and communicates the society’s mission to advance stem cell science across disciplines and borders.

What do you need to know?
How does web design impact carbon emissions?
Websites consume energy every time a page is loaded, with servers, networks, and user devices all requiring power. Poorly optimised websites use more energy than necessary, increasing their environmental impact.
How is a sustainable website different from a regular website?
Sustainable websites are designed to minimise energy consumption through lightweight coding, optimised media, green hosting, and efficient UX/UI design.
Can I make my existing website more sustainable?
Yes! We offer sustainable website audits to assess your current site and provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.
